On the edge of the Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici National Park, it lies between the glacial lakes called Lac de Baish and Lac deth Miei de Saboredo. It was built during the works for the hydroelectric plants on the Saboredo lakes. It was opened as a refuge in 1969 and is currently owned by the General Council of Aran. The main access route is along Val de Ruda (2 hours from the car park in summer). The GR 211.4 runs along it and forms part of the Carros de Foc circular hiking route.
