Refugi guardat part de l'any
It is located in the municipality of Naut Aran where the River Valarties rises. The building was constructed during the nearby hydro-electric works and in 1990 it was given to The Catalan Federation of Hiking Entities (FEEC). It is currently owned and managed by the General Council of Aran. The refuge has a toilet, hot water showers and, if the refuge manager is not there, the open part can sleep up to 12 people and has heating and blankets. At the refuge, the GR 11 forks and you can take the GR 11.18 variant towards the Colomèrs refuge, which is the most popular one used towardse Uelhacrestada and Caldes summits, or continue along the GR 11 which descends towards Valarties then rising along the River Rencules to Montcasau, also arriving at Colomèrs. It is a crossing point along the Carros de Foc circular hiking route.
