Head in an easterly direction from Arrémoulit refuge (2305 m), bordering the lake until reaching a signpost indicating a crossroads (crossing with route 08). This route separates at this point from the bank of the lake to head off upwards on a path to a small lake located to the south of Lac de Palas. Head straight up the valley without following a path and always towards the east. Only on the last stretch are there some zigzags and some painted markings and cairns indicating the route to this point. We now reach Cuello de Palas (2515 m).
From the saddle we can see a rocky spur to our left, jutting out from the southwest crest of Palas. Border round following a broken path maintaining altitude and following the painted markings, cross over the spur and an ironstone rocky ledge. We reach a chaotic basin full of boulders. Numerous cairns and partial paths can lead to confusion at this point (crossing with routes 09, 28 and 29). Pay attention and look for the painted markings, which are not always easily discernible, and gently ascend to Lavedán pass, a break in the southeast crest of Palas. We have to climb up beneath the saddle to gain the last few metres via a short climb (II).
Once again we enter France to continue over easier ground. Nevertheless, there could be snowdrifts here until well into the summer, and we should therefore take care. The painted markings are easier to follow now, and there are some more continuous paths guiding the descent over the rock fields and some grassy areas towards the Micoulaou lakes (crossing with route 35). Further ahead the path is more obvious and borders round Batcrabère lakes. Follow a gentle downward slope leaving the second lake to the left (crossing with route 12), and after the final zigzags we reach Larribet refuge (2072 m).
