2320 m
Refuge has a manager for part of the year
The Refugi Josep Maria Blanc is a mountain hut that stands in the Peguera Valley, within the municipality of Espot in the Pallars Sobirà region of Catalonia. It is located at an altitude of 2,320 metres on the eastern shore of Estany Tort de Peguera, a lake that lies within the limits of the Aigüestortes i Estany de Sant Maurici National Park. It is the oldest mountain hut in the park. The project to build this mountain hut dates from 1935, and after construction was interrupted by the Spanish Civil War, works were restarted after the summer of 1941, when the Hiking Society of Catalonia (CEC) again began to organise summer camps. The mountain hut was officially opened on 10 October 1943 and was named after Josep Maria Blanc, the former chairman of the CEC between 1935 and 1940, who contributed the largest sum of money for its construction.Technical spec.:
