  Refuge has a manager for part of the year
Located at the foot of Pica d'Estats, the highest peak in the Catalan Pyrenees, Vallferrera opened in 1935, making it the oldest Catalonian Federation of Rambling Clubs refuge in Catalonia. Today it is a modern and comfortable building in the heart of the Alt Pirineu Natural Park. The GR 11 trail passes very close by. The refuge is also along the final stage of the La Porta del Cel hiking trail.
