All the route takes place on part of the GR 11. The markings, along with the obvious path, mean this route is easy to follow whilst heading south, following the Caldarés river along the right bank.
The walk starts at the Ibones de Bachimaña refuge (2200 m), descending towards the footbridge located under the dam. Cross the bridge to the right side of the Caldarés river, the natural drainage point for the Bachimaña lakes, and then head down Cuesta del Fraile. An obvious zigzag takes us down this steep side and leads to the plain where O Bozuelo meadow is found (1850 m). We then follow this idyllic place leaving the Fraile waterfall behind us, which is the first waterfall we will see on this route. Trees start to be seen and the path enters the forest and once again the terrain becomes steeper. We begin losing height at this point, with zigzag paths alternating with more direct descents. We then reach Mirador de la Reina (1740 m) from where there some excellent views of the spa plain. We continue downhill and losing height with each step on a path leading directly to Casa de Piedra refuge (1636 m) located at the very north end of the large plain where Panticosa Spa is located (crossing routes 02, 22 and 24).
