From Ibones de Bachimaña refuge (2197 m) a path heads towards the dam of Ibón Alto de Bachimaña and border round the eastern side of the lake. It leads over Mal Paso, a sloped shelf which we ascend without difficulty with the help of the rope there and then heads off towards Mallata de la Canal. We leave the cabin behind us and wade over the stream leading out of Ibón Baxo de Gramatuero. We then head up to the lake (2293 m), cross over the dam and follow the south bank to the end where the hard ascent up to Ibón Alto de Gramatuero begins (2510 m). With the lake to the left, the route borders round towards the south over a boulder field to reach the end of the lake and the final climb up to Cuello dero Letrero (2642 m).
There is no obvious path here but the cairns indicate the descent down a steep slope to Ibón deras Neberas (2381 m) (crossing with route 20) which it borders round on the north side. We then lose height down to Ibón dera Montañeta (2265 m) and follow the stream out of the lake down to where Barranco deros Batans and the River Ara meet. We cross the ravine (crossing with route 22 and joining with the GR 11 long distance footpath), and head further down to the right side of the River Ara. When the GR markings and an occasional cairn indicate it, we should cross to the other side of the river (left bank) and further down look for some markings that indicate a barely discernible path heading north, where we leave the GR and move away from the river. We climb the mountainside diagonally and head towards the top of the valley on the left side.
At around 2360 m there are some markings on the left coming from Coth d'Arratilha and to the right leading to Mulos pass. From here on, in addition to these markings, there are some cairns indicating the route to follow to Oullettas. To the right (northeast) we head up the mountain to the pass. Several metres before we reach the pass (2522 m) we see a path on the left coming from Arratilha (crossing with route 18). Ignore this path and carry on upwards to Mulos pass (2594 m). The descent is on a steep slope following a zigzagging path to the plain of Eras Oulettas (2148 m). With the refuge in sight we border round the plain and cross the stream over a bridge and arrive at Oulettes de Gaube refuge (2158 m).
