A path heads down from Wallon-Marcadau refuge (1865 m) to cross the river over a bridge and then bear southeast towards Rol del Port de Marcadau valley. At the lowest part of the valley the river splits. We cross the river twice before arriving at a fork in the path (crossing with routes 10 and 26) next to a footbridge (1925 m). The right fork leads to Cuello dera Faxa. We do not take this fork, but rather continue downriver along the meadow until we arrive under the rock wall closing the valley off. An easy zigzag resolves this stretch, passing by Fuen Freda and entering the glacier cirque crowning the valley. Under the Marcadau peak (2675 m) to the left and Falisse or Punta Larre (2765 m) to the right the hard ascent ends at 2541 m at Marcadau pass.
From here we head down on a path marked GR-T 24, another option to the GR 11 long distance footpath. The walk first heads off towards the banks of Ibón dero Pezico dera Canal (2465 m) (crossing with route 34). The path crosses the stream flowing out of Pezico lake and continues losing height. Areas of meadow alternate with rock fields and peaty moorland. We then reach Mallata de la Canal and some time later a crossing in the footpaths. To the left a path leads towards Gramatuero. Ignore this path and follow the GR markings to the right in search of a stream flowing down from the Ibones Azules lakes. Next to a signpost indicating the GR 11 footpath (crossing with routes 11 and 25), we need to find a crossing to the other side of the stream. Follow a good path along the side of Ibón Alto de Bachimaña lake (2207 m). Border round Ibón Baxo also and at the dam cross to the other side and climb the hill to the Ibones de Bachimaña refuge (2197 m).
