A well marked path borders the north side of Respomuso refuge (2200 m) and crosses the ravine of the same name before heading southeast over flat land. This is how we reach Ibón deras Ranas and Campo Plano (2150 m) shortly afterwards. There is a shepherds hut next to the dam at this lake. The path passes by the hut before descending a few metres to the level land at the lake side (crossing with route 10). Now heading northeast we cross a grassy plain with no obvious path which is criss-crossed by several streams and can become waterlogged. At the end of the plain the path reappears and takes us gently up the slope to Peyre Sant Martin pass (2299 m).
The path heads straight north on a gentle downhill stretch. We will soon arrive at a fork (crossing with routes 14 and 15). We take the path to the right going up through the rock field. We will then reach a small pass leading onto a chaotic boulder field. Although it is a little difficult to follow the path here, later on there is a more defined path zigzagging along a stony slope leaving a small lake beneath us to come out at Col de Cambalés (2706 m).
The first part of the descent down the opposite side is rather hard going over broken terrain. But the path soon becomes more obvious and heads off eastwards losing height over easier ground. It leads us between the numerous Cambalés lakes over meadow and rock fields, and the first trees start to appear. After leaving the last of the lakes behind us the slope steepens and after crossing a small pine forest we finally reach Marcadau - Wallon refuge (1865 m).
