An easy path leads from Larribet refuge (2072 m) to Batcrabère lakes (crossing with route 12) above the first lake. Heading southeast this obvious path borders round the right bank and heads up to Micoulaou lakes (crossing with route 35). Further on the rocky terrain makes the path somewhat less obvious, but the painted markings and the cairns mean we are able to follow it with difficulty until the base of the east crest of Palas, where the narrow Lavedán pass is located (2614 m).
This mountain pass is a narrow gap. We climb up the more vertical fist section to reach a wide cirque at the feet of the south face of Palas. The terrain here is a chaotic boulder field which is fairly arduous to cross. The painted markings are less obvious and there is no path to speak of. The route heads diagonally towards the west. We ignore the cairns to the right leading towards Palas, and to the left we descend to Arriel lakes (crossing with routes 09, 28 and 29), and carry on walking in a westerly direction. After scrambling over a spur with an ironstone rocky ledge, the terrain levels off and we eventually reach Palas Pass (2515 m).
On the French side the markings disappear almost immediately and the path is lost in the rock field. However, the direction to follow (west) is obvious, down the valley towards a small lake. The slope steepens and a grassy path with cairns to guide us take is to the banks of Lac de Arrémoulit, which we reach (crossing with route 08) and then border around the north side until we reach Arrémoulit refuge (2305 m).
